door… entrance… exit…
close it to shut others out
doors can be broken
break it in to reach the prize
or break out… then walk away

lyrics ~
You know the day destroys the night
Night divides the day
Tried to run
Tried to hide
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side, yeah
We chased our pleasures here
Dug our treasures there
But can you still recall
The time we cried
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side
Yeah!
C’mon, yeah
Everybody loves my baby
Everybody loves my baby
She get high
She get high
She get high
She get high
I found an island in your arms
Country in your eyes
Arms that chain us
Eyes that lie
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side
Break on through, oww! Oh, yeah!
Made the scene
Week to week
Day to day
Hour to hour
The gate is straight
Deep and wide
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side
Break on through
Break on through
Break on through
Break on through
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

smiles…do like me some Doors…you know morrison was the first poet i ever owned a book by…and now i will be singing that song all night…smiles.
i loved his lyrics before i realized they were poetry! {i can be slow sometimes.} {smile}
I like your use of the door image as something you might want to break into or out of, or to keep other people out. Well put together. Incidentally, I was reading an old dual language translation of Rimbaud and in the introduction the professor who translated the book said he received a letter from Morrison thanking him for the translation as it made it much easier for him to read and appreciate Rimbaud in the original.
thank you! and thank you for such a wonderfully informative post at dVerse ~ Poets Pub. tanka is one of my favorite forms. that is so interesting about Morrison ~ i appreciate you sharing the story. {smile}
I loved the doors too! Takes me back. Nice weave with all the meanings and places where doors take one. Well done!
oh, thank you, Gay! ♥ it means so much to receive a comment like that from you! i couldn’t resist adding a Doors song! {smile}
I like doors too…great metaphor on life ~
thank you, Grace! ♥ i really appreciate your visits and kind comments!
there are things that are known, and things that are unknown; in between, are doors.
